1 Room, 1 Mg (Kinda)
This one was all about figuring out a decent personalized fight mechanic as well as trying out the idea of a one room game.
Fight clubs have always existed and no matter where you go, there’s going to be a bunch of folks willing to put money down on guys slugging it out in a ring. Hell, MMA is considered family entertainment by some and the WWE (or whatever it’s called nowadays) is as beloved as Santa (and about as make-believe). The Lower East Side has long been a haven for the down and out and the desperate. It’s my kinda place. So, it became a great backdrop for my ongoing TFAC series and a chance to create a realistic bare-knuckle brawler.
For this bad boy, I used Inform 7, my parser of choice, and it’s a constant learning opportunity for me. This mini-game clocks in at under 1 mg yet still provides a robust fighting experience. The art for the cover is what pushed it over my self-imposed limit. I’ve still got a lot to learn with I7 and welcome feedback and response.
